There is an immense problem considering food security within Cape Town.  Individuals do not have time to cook healthy food due to their busy schedules.  More and more people are turning to fast, unhealthy foods or are buying healthy foods at ridiculously high prices.  Another big issue in the city is limited space (small dark apartments) meaning; even if you wanted to grow your own greens, it is just not possible.

We discovered that there is a need for a compact system that is self-sustaining and can be placed indoors.  Research was done on various types of healthy foods including sprouts, microgreens and high protein foods. Microgreens proved to be the most feasible since they are 400% more nutritious than its adult counterparts, can be grown indoors, has very fast growing cycles and does not require a lot of attention.
